Community Relations

MSI is committed to giving back to the community, and does so in a variety of ways—including sponsorships and volunteer events at the Ronald McDonald House in Phoenix and Executive involvement on charitable boards such as the Central Arizona Shelter Services (CASS’ mission is to empower men, women, and children to end their homelessness by providing shelter and supportive services). During 2008, MSI increased our pledged to build upon on our relationship with the Ronald McDonald house by adopting a guest room newly opened campus at Phoenix Children's Hospital. MSI’s Humanities Committee raised funds to purchase items to decorate and furnish MSI's room. The MSI team designed the room and décor, selected and assembled furnishings, and prepared the room to welcome its guests.

Additionally, MSI employees continue to come together once a month to prepare and serve meals to those staying at the Ronald McDonald house. In 2009 MSI has made a commitment to Open Table to Foster a family from homelessness to sustainability. MSI is serving as the first corporation to sponsor and manage a table which teams life specialists and supporters with a homeless family to help them overcome the obstacles that can hinder self-sufficiency.

Ronald McDonald House

Ronald McDonald House

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Phoenix provides a “home away from home” for children and their families who travel to Phoenix to receive treatment for serious, often life-threatening illnesses and injuries. While we can not make medicine taste better or take away painful treatments, we can help lessen the burden by ensuring families have the stability they need to support their children during this difficult time.

The families who benefit from RMHC travel far from home to receive treatment for their child at world-renowned pediatric centers located in Phoenix. Their child’s treatment may last a day, a month, or even longer. It's a long time to be away from home or to divide a family, and often times commuting or staying at a hotel is either impossible or financially challenging for a family. RMHC is able to help families overcome these obstacles by providing low-cost, temporary housing that is near their child’s hospital.

Central Arizona Shelter Services

Central Arizona Shelter Services

Central Arizona Shelter Services' (CASS) mission is to empower men, women, and children with diverse needs to end their homelessness by providing shelter and supportive services.

Background:

CASS was founded in 1984 in response to a need for an agency to operate an emergency shelter for the homeless in downtown Phoenix. It is the largest shelter and service center for homeless people in Arizona, serving 6,000 men, women, and children annually.

CASS has two facilities. The main facility in downtown Phoenix serves 400 homeless men and women. Vista Colina Emergency Family Shelter, is a 30 unit apartment complex in Sunnyslope that houses homeless families with children. Both operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
