Place Point Retail and Self-Service Point of Sale

Place Point is a Point of Sale system with an instinctive user interface that fully integrates with MSI’s WinPM system. Guests can order items using secured information encoded on a track of their room key—specially encoded for this purpose—or a credit card to purchase food or beverages in the lobby. Built from the ground up to be intuitive and user-friendly, it combines appetizing graphics with a thoughtful design to appeal to the growing group of business travelers that demand interactive technology in their purchasing experiences. The easy front end is carried on in the Retail version, making the technology the easiest task your new employees will learn!

The self-service side of Place Point is an excellent example of the way in which a self service kiosk can supply high quality service with ease of use to create a unique buying experience—a purchasing experience more and more sought after by the frequent traveler. By cleverly embedding intuitive modifiers and suggestive sell upgrades into the design, the Place Point Self-Serve ensures consistent orders driven by the user, with a soft approach to selling the ‘extras’. The program utilizes appetizing and appealing visuals to assist the user in their item selections.

Self Service Features:
· Simplified navigation, and intuitive options—such as place order, start over, or return to main menu—make it simple for a guest to move through the screens with ease.
· Self Service displays a maximum of nine categories and nine items per screen. This makes keys and screens easier to read.
· Modifiers are used to add or hold items, or to delineate items, such as sizes for beverages. Modifiers can be built to have a billable amount associated with them, or can be added to the check without an additional charge.
· The check display now includes an order number and a rolling total, recalculating the check total as new items are added.
· Self Service offers modifiers like ‘add bacon’ or ‘hold the onions’.
· Self Service now offers drink size modifiers like 12 oz soda, 32 oz soda, and 64 oz soda.
· Self Service now offers a suggestive sell by category. For example, if a check is missing something from the beverage category, Self Service will prompt you with a beverage selection. Suggestive sell items are built two deep, and the check is reviewed by the system prior to offering another item. If a beverage is already ordered, for example, a dessert could be offered.
· Self Service now helps a hotel keep track of items that need to be replaced. For example, if a sandwich is taken out of the Grab and Go bin, Self Service alerts the kitchen, allowing them to keep the Grab and Go fully stocked.

Retail Point of Sale:
Integration with WinPM allows the system to work together; from login or night audit, intelligent integration makes the operations run smoother. With a touch screen monitor, the Retail Point of Sale can be installed on the same computer as WinPM. For hotels recognizing a gain in offering multiple services from a single front desk or concierge console, this integration can allow the front desk to offer a broader range of services to your guests. A tired traveler might appreciate the offer of an order for coffee, wine, or food right at the point of check in! If your property has the WinPM and credit track already installed, Place Point can be added to work in tandem with your existing software. Key lock programming for Onity, Vingcard, and Saflok have already been completed; check with the MSI sales team to see if your key lock version can create the track two data, so a customer can order items to be billed to their room from their key card!

· Place Point Retail offers a simplified menu tool for changes that occur on a daily basis, such as “86” of an item, a price change, and/or turning on/off suggestive sell.

· The database can be set up to associate items, so that an “86” function would affect all items in a category.

· Building menus can be administrated at the site level, and allows for tiers to make it easy to assign time periods when items will be offered, and to present an easy navigation for the end-user.

· Place Point lets you hide or display menu items based on the time of day.

· Adding modifiers makes it easy to order extra or hold items, billable or free, or to allow a clean method for choosing sizes or variations, while maintaining an easy-to-follow view.

· Suggestive sell allows the system to strategically offer items by eliminating those items already purchased as part of the order. This soft sell approach encourages ‘impulse’ purchases, while ensuring that options are offered uniformly.

· The system allows quantity orders—especially useful in supplying break items for a meeting room—or orders for a group.

· From the property side, the menu is automatically updated from a central location. This is extremely critical for enterprises who offer continuity across multiple restaurants or outlets, ensuring consistency on a timely basis.

· Retail features’ allow the hotel user to place or cancel park orders, add remove items from checks, adjust checks, and act as cashier for room charges for cash or credit card paying customers.

· Smart features include reminders when a check is in ‘pending’ (not ordered) status. Items in ‘progress’ are displayed in bold, while other users are in gray, making it easy for the user to multi-task. Orders are placed when payment is secured.

· Management has access to all checks to make it easy to maneuver between customers.

· Place Point offers a system log that details employee log-in, employee log-out, cash drawer open, payment swipe method, and other information. The log is in WinPM in the Place Point section.

· Other Place Point Reports are located on a drop down menu in WinPM, and include:
> Cancellation Report
> Cash Report
> Check Report
> Gratuity Report
> Payment Report
> Sales Report
> Activity Log
