Multi-Systems Inc. Purchases PMSs from
Pegasus Solutions Inc.
Acquisition brings over 450 Best Western
properties to MSI’s growing portfolio
PHOENIX — OCTOBER 21, 2005— Multi-Systems Inc. (MSI), the hospitality
industry’s leading provider of fully integrated property-management and
marketing systems, announced today that it has purchased the NovaPlus and
GuestView® property-management systems from Dallas-based Pegasus Solutions
Inc. (Nasdaq: PEGS). Pegasus is a leading provider of technology and
services to hotels and travel distributors. The Pegasus NovaPlus solution
served as the private-label PMS for over 450 Best Western hotels.
“We are thrilled to bring even more Best Western members into the MSI
family,” said Rick Munson, MSI president. “We have had a long relationship
with Best Western for several years. Most recently, our relationship has
blossomed as MSI became the first PMS company to develop and install a
two-way XML interface to the Best Western central-reservation system based
on Open Travel Alliance standards. Today we are working side-by-side with
the Best Western brand to bring technology solutions backed by superior
customer service to their members.”
In June, John Davis III, Pegasus President and CEO, announced the
company’s intent to exit the PMS arena.
“We are pleased to begin transitioning the NovaPlus and GuestView PMSs to
MSI,” Davis said. “Based on MSI’s dedication to the Best Western brand,
and its commitment to developing best-of-breed integrated property
solutions, we believe that it was the best possible company to purchase
and support NovaPlus.”
Bringing Best Western On Board
Scott Gibson, Best Western Chief Information Officer, said that he too is
pleased that MSI now owns the NovaPlus PMS.
“MSI has a good understanding of our membership and our technology
integration needs,” Gibson said. “We have the utmost confidence that they
will work with our members to make the transition from Pegasus to MSI a
smooth one. They were first in the industry to develop the two-way
interface to Best Western, and they are committed to Best Western’s vision
of leveraging the two-way interface to drive Best Western member value.
MSI has committed to Best Western that they will continue to support the
NovaPlus product, and that they will complete the Two-Way interface
between NovaPlus and Best Western’s central-reservation system.”
The first order of business, Munson said, is communication.
“We want our new family members to know that we are here for them, to
address their concerns, answer their questions, and listen to any input
they can provide to enhance our relationship with each one of the 450+
hotels,” Munson said. “Two-way communication is key to a successful
partnership, in every sense of the word.”
“We understand that a Two-Way interface between the NovaPlus PMS and the
Best Western CRS has been in development, and the status of this project
may be an area of concern to many users,” he continued. “Together with
Best Western, we at MSI are reviewing the current CRS interface and will
develop an action plan by the end of this year.”
Munson said that MSI is very sensitive to the needs of the existing
NovaPlus customers. Should they desire an immediate Two-Way interface, MSI
has taken the initiative to proactively develop a simple and
cost-effective migration platform from NovaPlus to MSI’s WinPM solution.
“MSI will work side-by-side with our new NovaPlus customers, assuring them
that MSI is here to support their existing and future PMS needs,” Munson
said. “Our No. 1 goal is to maintain the NovaPlus PMS to give these hotels
the support and guidance that MSI is so widely known for.”
Hotels wanting to learn more about MSI and the NovaPlus purchase are asked
to schedule appointments with Bridget Oliva, MSI VP of Sales and Marketing
at the upcoming Best Western convention this month in Phoenix. Bridget can
